OVERO - OLWS - LETHAL WHITE FOAL

A LETHAL WHITE FOAL. This foal is genetically doomed to die as it is the recipient of 2 x OLWS genes. (Overo Lethal WhiteSyndrome) When 2 x OLWS positive carriers are allowed to breed with each other eg: with both stallion and mare carrying the gene there is a 1 in 4 chance the foal will receive the gene from both parents. In simple terms the resulting foal does not develop correctly internally and cannot pass feaces. Unless put to sleep humanely it will die within 72 hours a very painful death. I am an advocate for educating and hopefully eliminating such breedings.
